When I was seven years old, I had two people take the time to teach me how to tie flies. One was Jo Czeskleba, a lady that ran a hardware store with her brother. She taught a lot of kids how to tie flies, fish, smoke game, and others things related to the outdoors. The other was a neighbor by the name of Lou Schaeffer.  Because they took the time to teach me I have enjoyed 65 years of tying my own flies. Now it is my turn to pass it on to others.  Since I retired I have been coordinating youth fly tying programs across the state of Wisconsin.  If you are a fly tier, please take the time to teach your skills to others, especially our youth.
